The Hamilton Co. buys Andover apartment complex for $62.5m

The Hamilton Co. said Tuesday that it has acquired a 193-unit apartment complex known as Windsor Green in Andover for $62.5 million.

The seller is an affiliate of the General Investment & Development Cos.

Based in Boston, the Hamilton Co. is a full service real estate management and development company that is privately owned and led by founder and chairman Harold Brown. The Hamilton Co. owns and manages more than 5,100 housing units in Greater Boston as well as nearly 2 million square feet of commercial property.

The Windsor Green complex was built in 2006 as part of a 40B development and has been professionally owned and managed by General Investment & Development since its completion. (Chapter 40B is a reference to the Commonwealth’s affordable housing law.)

Windsor Green offers the “amenities of luxury living with one-, two-, and three-bedroom units with rents starting at $1,600, Hamilton Co. said. This is Hamilton’s first property in Andover.

In a statement, Hamilton president and chief operating officer Carl Valeri said,“With this purchase, and several others slated for August, we will have acquired nearly $130 million of real estate for 2013.”
